Evaluation (Canon)

 MAGAZINE FRONT COVER:

my intentions for the magazine cover was to create a traditional looking front cover based of the pre-existing canon magazine called 'PhotoPlus'

I have accomplished this by taking inspiration from the magazine whilst also putting my own individual touches on it. what I liked about the PhotoPlus' original design was the layout of it, meaning it having one large photo be the main focus of the cover and having a few smaller pictures off away from the main focus (usually at the bottom). another thing I emulated was the advertisement circle in the top right hand side of the magazine cover offering a high value product for free in the magazine, I used this in my design as I believe doing so would draw in buyers as they would feel like they're getting a bargain deal.

The two things I changed about my design were the main colour of the cover, usually in a 'PhotoPlus' magazine the dominant colour is white, but in mine I have used two shades of red, one being a lighter red and the other being darker in tone. I made this change as I believe it would make the magazine look more like it was made by canon that using white as white isn't the main colour associated with canon, it's red. The second thing that I changed was the overlay of images on the cover, on the original covers, usually there is text on top of the base image, which I find to be a bit overwhelming and distracts from the image on the cover. To remedy this, on my cover I have created separate blocks for the text to rest on so it doesn't look cluttered like believe it does on the 'PhotoPlus' magazine covers.

PRINT ADVERT:

My intentions for the print advert were for it to turn out similar to to one of canons previous campaigns, I took inspiration from the image below.

what I liked about this image was how it showed the grandeur of nature and how it made the person look so small, I wanted try and coy this the best I could in my product so I used a low angle shot to make my dad in the image appear smaller and really scale up the size of Penshaw monument i also wanted to incorporate symmetry into my work so I shot the picture in the middle of the monument and added the sun into the middle of the frame between the two pillars to really play off the idea of symmetry in the ad

Overall, I am very happy with how both of my final products turned out
