production: main project (Canon)

TAKING THE PHOTO (MAGAZINE FRONT COVER):

To take the picture of the castle for the magazine cover, I first had to choose a location which I decided to be Hylton Castle and the cathedral in Hylton Castle estate, Sunderland. I took my camera and a tripod to a location behind the castle and took several pictures by myself, so I have no behind the scenes footage, these are the two I chose to use below.

for this I decided to use a wide angle to get the whole cathedral in frame as I was shooting from the side

For this one I’ve used a low angle and a wide angle to have the whole castle in frame and to make it appear huge

EXPERIMENTATION AND EXTRA PHOTOS:

First I tried it from the front but decided it was too far away but the gate was closed so I couldn’t get closer

I don't like this one because its too close

this one is similar to the one I used in the final piece but its too bright

TAKING THE PHOTO (PRINT ADVERT):

To take the picture for the print advert, me and me and my dad went to Penshaw monument in Penshaw near Sunderland. the idea was to have him as an aspiring photographer is a really scenic location looking for the perfect photo. all we used was my camera, his camera as a prop and my tripod to steady the shot, we have no behind the scenes shots for this either as we were pressed for time.

these are the two pictures i decided where the best two, I used the second one in my final ad and i used the first one for a concept which you will find in my post titled 'Post production diary (canon)'

for this photo we positioned the camera facing south east while my dad was looking out from the south facing side of the monument, i wanted it to look like he was taking a photo of the landscape down bellow, which I believe to have worked

For this photo, the look I was going for was to make it appear like he was looking around for the perfect photo to take of the beautiful monument he was in, we accomplished this by propping up the the camera on the tripod at the west facing side of the monument and getting him to make it look like he was walking away from the camera and towards the sunset (which was added later in photoshop as it was cloudy at the time).

EXTRA PHOTOS

This was the first photo I took and its far too bright as I unknowingly had the flash on so its unusable

This one however is far to dark and I don't like the way it looks because the camera looks to far away and that's not what I was going for in this photo.

Unlike the last two, I do like the way this photo turned out however I just think that it doesn't suit my project and the message I was trying to convey as well as the one I decided using.
